Our Vision
To realize our full potential for creating innovative programs, with diverse perspectives, that will enlighten and delight our community of viewers.
Our Mission
To inspire and nurture the creativity of senior adults through the power of TV and video productions that serve the Silicon Valley community and beyond.
Our Story
Cupertino TV Productions (CTVP) is a 50+ club of active individuals sponsored by the City of Cupertino. We produce half hour TV interview shows which are taped at the public access station, KMVT15 Community Media, in Mountain View, CA. Since 1983, we have produced more than 1,200 programs covering a wide variety of topics of interest to the community.
Our shows are cablecast on 6 public access TV stations in some 13 communities, and can also be seen on YouTube by at least 32,300 subscribers and more.
History
In 1983, a group of about 20 Cupertino Senior Center members attending a TV production class at De Anza College formed Cupertino Senior TV Productions, producing shows under the name “The Better Part”, adapted from the Robert Browning poem “Grow old along with me! The best is yet to be, the last of life, for which the first was made”.
With the arrival of new digital equipment at the De Anza College studio, the cost of the class became prohibitive. Around 2003, the City Council found a new studio, public access TV station KMVT15. The partnership with KMVT15 continues to this day as we proudly produce award-winning shows. We have since deleted the word “Senior” from our name to attract audiences of all ages.
Currently
We meet on Tuesdays on a biweekly basis at the Cupertino Senior Center to discuss program updates, brainstorm ideas for shows and take care of administrative business. We are actively crewing and producing shows at KMVT15’s new studio in Mountain View. Catch our new and old timeless shows on cablecast, youtube and on our Home and Shows page.

Onboarding New Members
A core part of the mission of CTVP deeply held by its members, is to teach the techniques, the processes, and the art of TV production to others. Learning TV production at Cupertino TV Productions means not only taking classes taught by professionals at KMVT Silicon Valley Community Media, but also hands-on learning from each other.
