What’s New?

With July, we are half past 2026. And sure enough, we are in the thick of summer. At the same time, the fog continues to roll past the Golden Gate Bridge. Mark Twain is often attributed with saying, "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco," and though he never actually said it, yours truly can vouch for the sentiment being quite true. This month, the region buzzes with July 4 festivals, including SF's massive Fillmore Jazz Festival, San Jose’s historic Rose, White, and Blue Parade and Cupertino’s all day Independence Day extravaganza at Memorial Park featuring an 8:00 AM Quinlan Community Center pancake breakfast, Santa Cruz Firecracker Race, and the Scotts Valley Parade and Flyover. Happy Independence Day, Dear CTVP Community! Hope you have a happy, safe celebration.

The festivals continue with the family stargazing campouts at Creekside Park (July 18), and twilight Shakespeare performances (July 25) at Memorial Park, Cupertino, and lively Bhangra & Beats Night Market at Yerba Buena Gardens, SF (July 24).

If you are looking for something outdoors, you’ll find on local trails, resilient sticky monkey flowers and California poppies thriving under coastal mist. And along shorelines, unique Heermann’s gulls arrive from Mexico alongside sunning harbor seals, while majestic Tule elk begin their active summer rutting season at Point Reyes National Seashore. It is a perfect month for experiencing the Bay’s distinct blend of lively urban culture, rich local community traditions, and raw coastal nature.

Now a look back at last month—

June was an exciting and happening month for Cupertino TV Productions. Our annual short film festival Encore2026 was held on June 9. You would be happy to know it was well-attended by members of the community. In fact, it was house-full! And judging by the applause and appreciative calls by the audience, it was very well received. It was very heartening to see the audience asking a lot of film-making and editing questions; they were genuinely ineterested in film-making craft. Check out our Encore2026 photos in the Gallery. Per chance your schedule didn't allow you to join us this year, please join us next Encore festival. Last month, we also produced a short on the opening ceremony in San Jose on the World Cup. Youchad to see and hear it to believe it. The enthusiasm, the excitement, Mayor Meehan's expression of joy, and the music all contributed to an exhilarating atmosphere captured by our mics and cameras. It was great to see our CTVP logo'ed mic competing with NBC's mic trying to catch Mayor Meehan's words amidst all the din. The World Cup short is slated to be a full cablecast-length show. The TACO show went in filming and interviewing mode last month, the process carries on in July.

Last month, we also reviewed the wildflowers show, it's going to debut next month on cablecast. You can catch all these shows on our YouTube channel.  Do check out four shows playing this month on Cablecast TV in approximately 13 communities across six TV stations from Menlo Park to Monterey County on our Shows page. Visit our YouTube channel and Facebook pages to give us your feedback.

And as always, join us at the CSC at 10 AM on the first and third Tuesday every month if you want to be a part of Cupertino TV Productions.

Heads up!

CTVP Life in Pictures

Our lives as producers revolve around the studio, meetings, and on location filming. With cameras that ride inside phones in our pockets and purses, photos of our lives abound. Check them out in this section. There are pictures from KMVT15’s field equipment class for Cupertino TV Productions, new members’ training on studio equipment, Volunteer Appreciation Lunch day at CSC, CSC’s Open house, post-production crew shoots and myriad others just because we came together to create something. Mostly because we are feeling good about ourselves or for members and partners who are volunteering — creating, crewing, and giving us a reason to celebrate creativity :)
